About Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a safe, effective and holistic way of medicine, discovered and developed by Dr Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician in the 1790s.

Homeopathy treats each person as a unique individual with the aim of stimulating their own healing ability. A homeopath selects the most appropriate medicine based on the individual's specific symptoms and personal level of health.

Homeopathy  is recognized by WHO as the second largest therapeutic system in use in the world.

Why should you consider Homeopathy?

Homeopathic treatment works with your body's own healing powers to bring about health and well being.

You are treated as an individual, not as a collection of disease labels. Homeopathy treats all your symptoms at all levels of your being - spiritual, emotional, mental and physical - and finds the "like cures like" match for them.

Homoeopathically prepared remedies, providing the minimum dose, are gentle, subtle and powerful. They are not addictive and are not tested on animals.

The Homeopathic consultation

Homeopathic consultation involves questions about your lifestyle, eating habits, personality, sleep patterns and medical history. This helps the practitioner form a complete picture of you and find a particular type and strength of Homeopathic medicine.

As a guide, your first appointment could take up to 90 minutes, with follow up appointments typically lasting 30 minutes.

We offer a complementary 15 minute meet and greet to answer any questions that you may have.

Classical Homeopath

DCH, CCH (Cand.)

I  grew up with Homeopathy and Ayurveda as a child in India. Homeopathy was part of my life for as long as I can remember.

My connection with these holistic way of life were severed when I moved to North America in 2000. I was reintroduced to Homeopathy in 2010 and in no time I was even more convinced of the efficacies of homeopathic remedies after being in Allopathic care for myself and my family for a decade. I was so convinced and so excited for the solutions they present that I decided to study and become a homeopath myself.

I got my training as a Classical Homeopath at Western College of Homeopathic Medicine  (Calgary, AB) which included training in Tanzania at HHA (Health with Homeopathy in Africa).

I am Secretary of Alberta Homeopathic Association (AHA) and involved in the homeopathic community in Calgary.

What does Homeopathic treatment involve?

Homeopathic practitioners work in the same way as any other conventional doctors. History taking and investigation are all important in establishing the diagnosis. However, as well as asking about your symptoms, a homeopathic practitioner will also be interested in you as an individual and the unique way in which your symptoms affect you.

What is involved in a Homeopathic consultation?

Questions about your lifestyle, eating habits and preferences, temperament, personality, sleep patterns and medical history help the Homeopath to form a complete picture of you. This picture will be matched to the symptoms of your illness in order to prescribe a particular type and strength of homeopathic medicine.

As a guide your first appointment could take anything up 90 minutes, with follow-up appointments typically lasting 30 minutes. This does vary depending on the practitioner and the setting in which they work.

What are the Laws of Homeopathy?

  • The Law of Similars: Matching the symptoms of a medicine tested on healthy humans to the individual seeking treatment.
  • The Minimum Dose: Determining the least amount of medicine needed to effect the needed change.
  • Totality of Symptoms: Matching the complete symptom profile of the patient to the symptom profile of the remedy.
  • Single Remedy: Administration of one remedy at a time.

Is Homeopathy new in Canada?

One of the longest existing homeopathic hospital was in Montreal, incorporated on October 2nd, 1894. On June 13, 1904, the name was changed to The Homeopathic Hospital of Montreal, and it was not until 1951 that its name was changed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Griffith, 1969) . Today the plaque on the building commemorates the fact that it was a homeopathic hospital.

On April 1, 2015, the Homeopathy Act, 2007 was proclaimed in Ontario and the college of Homeopaths now has been vested with the full power of legislation, including the authority to register homeopaths, administer a quality assurance program, and receive and investigate complaints and reports.

Founded in 2014, The Alberta Homeopathic Association is a nonprofit organization to unite and support the professional homeopathic community in Alberta and to further more establish Homeopathy as a recognized profession and regulated health care system in Alberta.
